GussySound has been run by Anna Kotousov since 2012, with dozens of satisfied clients. She is a sound designer, an audio engineer and a musician and has an MA in Film Sound Design, BEE in Electrical Engineering, as well as a DIP in Music. Anna has been involved in two feature films, hundreds of animations and short films, as well as several documentaries and TV programs. In addition to running GussySound, Anna works as a live sound engineer.

Designed by acclaimed acoustic engineer Sergey Proskuryakov in collaboration with Anna Kotousov herself, the studio is a production and post-production facility with audio recording capability. Initially, it was built as a space for working on films, however, Anna’s projects expanded into other areas of sound and music production, and thus the studio was turned into not only a home for film post-sound, but for performing musicians, podcasters and even educators. GussySound offers a unique and creative atmosphere with an individual and flexible approach to each project, as well as the most affordable prices in Adelaide.

The studio itself is zoned into “live” and “dead” spaces which allows comfortable mixing (with RT60 approx. 0.5 sec.) and clear audio recording (with RT60 of 1.5 – 1.8 s). A combination of advanced designed diffuser panels, meticulously calculated bass traps, as well as reflection and absorption panels, eliminates and smooths room modes, and gives the studio a warm acoustic tone. In less technical terms, it means that while mixing, a sound engineer can hear the true, undistorted sound, resulting in extremely precise control over the audio, and allowing them to produce quality mixes which will be transferable from one audio system to another. Additionally, during acoustic recording, this acoustic design negates any exaggerated “boom” (low-mid frequency).

Completed with Genelec Monitoring, an RME audio interface, a ProTools system, UAD processing, several synthesizers such as Nord and Kurzweil, a Taylor guitar and a choice of microphones – GussySound is an ideal place to transfer creative ideas into a quality audio product.
